Stay
LEGOLAND® has its own hotel within the park, featuring LEGO themed rooms. The LEGOLAND® California Resort comes with entertainment around every corner; a giant play pit of LEGO blocks, an arcade, hotel-wide treasure hunt, character meet-and-greets, and much more make up the one-of-a-kind amenities here.
There are a few hotels with immediate access to the theme park that are a bit more budget-friendly. The Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa has its own private entrance to the park for quick access to come and go throughout your stay. If the adults are looking for some reprieve, they’ll find it in this modern hotel. Recharge in your room, during a massage at the onsite spa, outside around a firepit or in the pool. You’ll find a similar relaxing experience next door at The Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa, which also has a private entrance to LEGOLAND®. The Westin has three restaurants to choose from including 20Twenty with California cuisine and ocean views.
Hilton Grand Vacations at MarBrisa also offers easy access to LEGOLAND® – it’s just a two minute walk to the park. Make like a fish and swim in one of the hotels three pools, including a kid-friendly Water Splash Zone. Hilton Grand Vacations at MarBrisa also offers a shuttle service to whisk you around their 43-acre resort…grand indeed! Make your money go even further by staying at Carlsbad by the Sea. They provide shuttle service to LEGOLAND® and anywhere else within two miles of the resort. Free parking, wifi, and breakfast are included with the room rate – that’s hard to beat!
Experience
While the beach is an obvious choice for recreation and relaxation, there are plenty of other options for family fun in Carlsbad. If you’ve got a golfer in your group, you can bet they’ll be chomping at the bit to get out on the green. The Crossings at Carlsbad is a popular wedding destination, with gorgeous views of the city and ocean. Play the 18-hole championship course at Twilight or Super Twilight for discounted rates.
Ready to get out on the water? Whether you’re looking for a leisure outdoors or a more advanced activity, you can find a great fit at Carlsbad Lagoon. Opt for a solo adventure on a kayak or pair up on an aquacycle! Larger groups can look into a pontoon or power boat rental if you feel the need for speed. Carlsbad Lagoon also offers stand-up paddle board rentals, with nearby companies Floating Yogis SUP and Blue Paddle SUP offering lessons and other paddle adventures on the water.
On the off-chance you arrive in San Diego during a rainstorm, don’t let the weather deter you from a good time. Right around the corner from LEGOLAND® is the Museum of Making Music, perfect if you’re looking to avoid raindrops for an hour or two. Another indoor activity you might not associate with Southern California: ice skating! Check out Icetown for public skating sessions and drop-in classes.
Family-Friendly Dining
Just five miles from LEGOLAND® is Carlsbad Village, a picturesque downtown area filled with shops and restaurants. San Diego’s Pizza Port locations have been keeping hungry families happy since 1992. Head to their Carlsbad brewpub for pizza, salads, and more munchies that will satisfy kids and adults alike.
For those interested in a more health-conscious morning or mid-day meal, check out Choice Juicery. Pick up a smoothie, bowl, or superfood snack while the kids run around an enclosed green space. Relax at a picnic table and take in some sea breeze before wandering the rest of the Village. Another pick for kids to stay and play is Park 101. Little ones will love the oversized Connect Four game and chicken dino nuggets, while adults will appreciate shareable plates and the roof deck view.
Maybe you’ve had a full day on your feet, and all you want is a little something sweet. Problem solved, thanks to Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream!
