Want to know where the locals love to hang out? We asked Scott Fisk, Mission Hills resident, San Diego Expert and your KAABOO connection.

SCOTT’S PICKS

Why do you love San Diego?

I fell in love with SD on my first surf trip from inland LA as a young and bright eyed teenager, set my sights on going to State for college and stayed. The sun, the surf, the beautiful beaches, Balboa Park and the many neighborhoods with their own uniqueness highlight America’s Finest City and it’s where I met my wife, a San Diego native no less, and made our home with our daughter.

What neighborhood do you live in currently?

Mission Hills

What are your favorite things to do when family or friends visit from out of town?

I love being so central to everything and taking family & friends everywhere from the zoo or museums in Balboa Park to the waves at Sunset Cliffs, from Vivian’s fresh baked Cuban treats and cafe con leches at Azucar in Ocean Beach to Maeve’s delights up at Sugar & Scribe in La Jolla, catching the sunrise at Mount Soledad to enjoying the sunset from JRDN in PB, or just driving up and down the coastline. Too many other favorites to list, just gotta go do ’em.

What’s your favorite ‘date night’ or special occasion restaurant / place?

Plenty of options here for sure and it depends on the season for our date nights which sometimes turn into date days but my wife and I love checking out live music or just grabbing a bite at any one of our favorite spots from crepes at Cafe Madeline to anything at Provisional inside The Pendry, from a nice happy hour at Fort Oak in Mission Hills to anything at Herb & Wood, from a bit of spicy Thai at Supannee in Point Loma to our favorite Rollz Royce sushi roll at Harney Sushi in Old Town, the locale doesn’t matter as much as the woman I’m married to sitting across from does.

What’s a perfect Saturday in San Diego to you?

It’s changed over the years from multiple surfs back in the day and grilling in the backyard in the evening to dropping our daughter at ballet and trying to get everything done we didn’t finish during the week but it all starts with family breakfast and ends with dinner together with friends or as a family but as long as we’re together, it’s a perfect day.
